PHOENIX — Do you order from Uber Eats? Now you could be picking up your food from a Waymo car instead of a person.

Waymo, as part of an ongoing partnership with Uber, will now be an option for delivery for customers within the 225-plus square mile Phoenix metro service area.

The fully autonomous vehicle company will be working with select merchants in Chandler, Tempe and Mesa, including places like Princess Pitas, Filiberto's and Bosa Donuts.

And don't worry, you don't have to do anything different to order your Uber Eats to be delivered by Waymo. When placing an order in the Phoenix metro area, customers will receive an in-app prompt that says "autonomous vehicle may deliver your order," according to a news release from Waymo.

You do have the opportunity to opt-out, as well, if you prefer having a human being deliver your found, Waymo said in the news release.

After placing an order, Uber Eats customers will be notified if they are matched with a Waymo. When the vehicle arrives, customers will receive instructions to take their phone with them to open the vehicle's trunk and collect their items, Waymo said.

Getting your takeout from a driverless vehicle is definitely "Waymo" interesting, that's for sure!
