The crash happened early Friday morning near University Drive and Rural Road.

TEMPE, Ariz. — A car crash in Tempe sent a city police officer to the hospital with minor injuries early Friday morning.

According to police, the crash happened around 1 a.m. near University Drive and Rural Road.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation but police don't believe that alcohol was involved.

At this time there is no word on the condition of the other driver. Police did not release the identity of the officer who was hurt.
