Ex-Cardinals executive files new lawsuit against team, owner

The suit alleges that Michael Bidwill sought to dig up dirt on Terry McDonough. Former Arizona Cardinals director of player personnel Terry McDonough, who was recently awarded millions in damages by an NFL arbitrator, has filed a new lawsuit against the team, owner Michael Bidwill, his lawyers, and PR agency hired by Bidwill. The lawsuit alleges that Bidwill sought to dig up dirt on former general manager Steve Keim to support allegations of domestic violence, infidelity, illicit drug use, drunk driving, and illegal activities. The family claims there was an intentional infliction of emotional distress. The NFL arbitration process is secretive, so this case could make it public record. There is some concern that the Cardinals may be punished by the NFL before the draft, scheduled for April 25.

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A former Arizona Cardinals executive, who was just awarded millions in damages by an NFL arbitrator, has filed a new lawsuit against the team.

It all dates back to the Cardinals suspending former general manager Steve Keim for DUI and using burner phones to communicate “under the radar.”

Ex-Cardinals director of player personnel Terry McDonough, his wife and daughter filed the lawsuit in an Arizona court against the Cardinals and owner Michael Bidwill, his lawyers and a PR agency that Bidwill hired.

The suit alleges that Bidwill sought to dig up dirt on McDonough to support allegations of domestic violence, rampant infidelity, illicit drug use, drunk driving and other illegal activities.

The family claims there was an intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The NFL arbitration process is secretive. This case could make it public record and a state case can’t be moved to federal court, where corporate defendants tend to fair better.

There is some concern that the Cardinals could be punished by the NFL, but we likely won’t get an answer on that before the draft, scheduled for April 25.
