PHOENIX — Two young men have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping someone at gunpoint outside of a Phoenix McDonald's and demanding money from the person's friends and family, court records show.

The young victim had arranged to meet with someone on March 6 and sell them an Apple watch in the parking lot of a McDonald's near 91st Avenue and Thomas Road. Two individuals showed up to the parking lot and one of them allegedly pulled out a gun.

They ordered the victim into a vehicle and allegedly smashed their phone on the ground, court records show.

The suspects obtained the Instagram accounts of the victim's relatives and started sending photos depicting a gun pointed at the victim's head. As the suspects demanded money from friends and relatives, they allegedly threatened to kill the victim and said they would have to dig their own grave, records show.

The suspects then allegedly drove the victim to a remote area west of Laveen, ordered them to strip down to their underwear, and left them on the side of the road.

Phone and car records eventually led to police identifying the two suspects as Edgar Villalobos and Oscar Hernandez, both 19. They were taken into custody on April 3.

Records show investigators reported finding a firearm and a mask in one of the suspect's car and residence that resembled items used during the kidnapping. Another firearm was allegedly recovered from the other suspect's car.
