Bingo for Biden: First lady Jill Biden returning to Arizona to court senior voters
First lady Jill Biden returns to swing-state Arizona this week to help rally senior support for President Joe Biden's reelection.
Biden will be in Phoenix Saturday to help launch the Biden campaign's national Seniors for Biden-Harris initiative "to engage senior voters across the nation to reelect President Biden and Vice President (Kamala) Harris."
The first lady's visit to Phoenix will come days after Hunter Biden, the president's son, was convicted on federal gun charges.
The Biden-Harris seniors coalition, which is hosting two "Bingo for Biden-Harris" events in the state as part of its rollout, will try to contrast Biden's record on senior issues such as inflation, the cost of prescription drugs and insulin, Social Security and Medicare with former President Donald Trump's.
Jill Biden on Saturday will headline a Seniors for Biden-Harris event in Phoenix.
The "Bingo for Biden-Harris" events are set for 11 a.m. Thursday in Phoenix and at 2 p.m. Thursday in Tucson.
Jill Biden most recently was in Arizona last month to discuss education and to speak at Mesa Community College's graduation ceremony. In March, she emphasized abortion access at an appearance in Tucson that was marked by disturbances by protesters who objected to the president's handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
Joe Biden narrowly carried Arizona over Trump in the 2020 election, becoming the first Democratic presidential candidate to win the state since President Bill Clinton in 1996.
